OLOV Parent Teachers Association (PTA)

All parents of our school are automatically members of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA). We are very proud of our active PTA who support the school primarily through fund raising and organising social events. Each class is usually represented by two parents who are responsible for coordinating and communicating events with their class. If you would like more information on how you can become involved, please ask at the school office for details of the appropriate person to contact listed with your childs school year below.

Who's Who in the OLOV PTA?

PTA Co-Chairs - Deborah Scudder / Melissa Thirsk

The role of the PTA Chair is to lead Class reps in all fundraising activities and liaise with Mr McPhilemy, who determines priority projects for financial assistance.  Where relevant the PTA chair will oversee a number of events, activities and programmes that run throughout the year and traditionally the PTA Chairs will lead all volunteers in organising these.  An example of these activities include the PTA meetings & Newsletters; New Parents Meetings; Dinner, Dance & Auction nights; Christmas and Summer Fairs; Coffee Mornings; Staff Appreciation Day etc.

Class Representative

Class Reps are responsible for attending the monthly PTA meetings, preparing and distributing the class list, PTA meeting minutes, coordinating one class cake sale, and organising 3-4 coffee mornings after Assembly per academic year.  They also manage the class activity during Christmas Fair and Summer Fair and welcome new parents to the school.

Fairs Coordinator

The Fairs Coordinator plans and manages the Christmas and Summer Fairs, liasing with our PTA Treasurer, Frank T’Sas.  The Fairs Coordinator is responsible for overseeing both Fairs from start to finish and needs to dedicate a considerable amount of time during the day of the Fairs (roughly 6 hours) in addition to the time spent preparing for the event.  They are responsible for preparing the posters and book bag flyers to advertise the event, liasing with the Hospitality Team to ensure table cloths are clean and ironed, and providing Year 6 teacher a list of the class activities so that the year 6 children can prepare signs and artwork for the fair.  The Fairs Coordinator also ensures that the PTA Treasurer prepares the float for each class activity a few days before the Fair and helps the Treasurer count the money the evening/day after the Fair.

Parent Readers

Parent Readers are key to the success of our school reading programme.  They work with a specific class throughout the year and commit one hour every week to listen to the children read.  The school Reading Coordinator is Maria Cruz She will contact you to schedule your regular reading session.  All parent readers must submit a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Form.

Please note the dates for the PTA events are listed in the Calendar
