We had a great time at Holland Park for Sports Day this year! We completed many different challenges and tried our best to earn points for our house teams!

Dirty Hands, Green Fingers! (25 images)
We had a marvellous time at Hyde Park Education Centre. We created natural artwork, learned all about living and growing plants and even planted our own seed to take care of at home!

Painting Flowers (13 images)
In Year One we love to paint! We used our observation skills to draw real flowers in oil pastel before painting them in the brightest colours we could find!

We loved visiting the National Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark to learn all about seaside holidays in the past! Take a peek at our fabulous day...land ahoy!

Fruity Fun! (40 images)
This term we have been taste testing fruit salads from Waitrose and taking time to design our very own recipes. Mr Waitrose asked us to liven up the fruit salad range in the Gloucester Road store so today we shopped for fresh fruits and spent the afternoon making delicious salads!

Living Eggs (47 images)
We were so excited to receive 10 living eggs this week! We have watched them hatch with awe and amazement and look forward to caring for them for the next week in school. Today we learned how to hold chicks carefully and safely - some of them even fell asleep in our hands. Take a look..!

Spring Snow! (9 images)
We were so excited to see OLOV covered in snow today! We spent our playtime building snowmen and making snowballs. We even timed how long our snowballs took to melt back in the classroom! Later we watched the weather forecast to find out about snowfall all over the UK.

Marvellous Measures (18 images)
This week we used our collaborative skills to solve mystery measurement problems in the classroom. Living Eggs Ltd asked us to find the 'longest line' to work out the length of their chick brooder and the Three Bears asked us to sort out all of their porridge bowls according to capacity!

Day and Night (8 images)
Why can we see the moon in the day? Why are the Summer days longer? Who tells the Earth to be night time? These are some of our fantastic questions about day and night! We used books and science videos to research how day and night occur, then used globes, torches and spheres to share our understanding with our friends!

Teatime and Toys at Kensington Palace (12 images)
Today we had a fantastic time exploring Queen Victoria's childhood toys at Kensington Palace. Some of us even got to dress up as local children from 200 years ago and Victoria's maids. We had such a super time and we can't wait to build our own old-fashioned 'thaumatropes' back in the classroom!

Magical Toy Museum (11 images)
Today we kick-started our Toys topic in style with Freshwater Theatre's Magical Toy Museum! We explored toys in the past, comparing them to those in the present. We learned about the history of the teddy bear, we investigated how to make different toys move and we even had the opportunity to create (in our minds!) our very own toy to put in the museum. Here's our workshop in action!

Mini Masterpiece - Our Local Area! (21 images)
We have had a fantastic time building up Gloucester Road and our local area in 3D. We used papier mache to make our buildings strong and blocks to mark out the main roads. Take a look at our final creation!

Who Built the Ark? Noah! Noah! (6 images)
We so enjoyed leading worship today for Early Years and KS1. We re-told God's Creation story and the story of Noah's Ark through song, helping us all to reflect on the importance of looking after God's beautiful world.

Sensational Senses! (34 images)
We have been learning all about the 5 senses in Science and how to use them mindfully. We described the smells of different herbs, guessed the flavour of different crisps and explored the texture of unusual materials like horse hair and sandpaper. Here is us in action...

We started our Local Area topic by following a map around Gloucester Road and spotting geographical and physical features along the way. Soon we will start to build a map of our local area in 3D - we can't wait!
