Wildlife Explorers! (30 images)
The nursery went on a school trip to the Natural History Museum. We participated in a Wildlife Explorers workshop and got to explore the wildlife garden hunting for minibeasts and plants.

Pentecost and the Holy Spirit (19 images)
Whilst learning about the Holy Spirit and the Good News of Jesus, the nursery children explored the power of the wind. We blew up balloons with helium and then released them, watching them disappear as the wind carried them away.

Fruit kebabs (13 images)
We've been learning about tings that grow. The Very Hungry Caterpillar ate lots of fruit and grew very big. We made fruit kebabs for our snack so that we could grow just like him.

Maths in the nursery. (8 images)
We use lots of practical activities to learn about numbers and quantity. Last week we used cars and people to match quantity to numerals. This is what it looked like.

Bunny hopping and the Great Egg Roll (26 images)
During the Easter period the nursery children explored the properties of eggs by constructing ramps to roll them down. We also hopped like bunnies to save the Easter eggs that the Big Bad Wolf (Miss Salazar) had stolen.

Easter at OLOV (43 images)
The nursery and reception children made Easter Bonnets, performed some Easter songs for their parents and friends, sampled hot cross buns, cooked chocolate Easter nests, and hunted excitedly for Easter eggs after the Easter Bunny had left them a letter. Nursery Trip to OLOV Church (18 images)
The nursery class had a lovely day visiting our parish church. Father Daniel met us there and showed us some of the important objects and characteristics of the mass and church. We worked in partners to go on a scavenger hunt around the church to find different objects. Afterwards we enjoyed a picnic lunch in Holland park and had a few minutes to explore the playground before heading back to school on the bus. We all had a great day and learnt a lot!

Transient art! (12 images)
The children love making arrangements with loose materials to make pictures, patterns and shapes. This time it was with red and gold materials for Chinese New Year!

Can you feel the beat! (11 images)
During some of our music classes we've been learning about beat and rhythm. We use the claves or 'tapping sticks' to explore different beats and how we can change sound from fast to slow or loud to soft.

Chelsea Fire Station (61 images)
We went on our first school trip to the fire station! It was a fantastic trip and all the children enjoyed being up close to a fire engine and pretending to be fire fighters for the day. The fire fighters were impressed with our knowledge about ringing 999 in an emergency and we even sang our Fire Fighter and 999 Emergency song for them to say thank you. We made it back to school for a picnic lunch before home time.

Shadows, Light and Dark! (34 images)
An exciting shadow puppet show of the Jack and the Beanstalk story by Miss McDougall, led to lots of fun exploration of shadows, light and dark. We put on our own shadow puppet shows, used torches in our play, drew animal shadows and explored the dark cave in the outdoor classroom.

Jack and the Beanstalk and Robots! (13 images)
The children worked together to draw a giant beanstalk and then used our Beebot Robots to climb the beanstalk. We pretended the Beebot was a 'Robot Jack'. The children had to count how many 'steps' to tell the robot to go, to get him all the way to the top of the beanstalk.

Oliver Bear's Birthday! (28 images)
It was Oliver Bear's birthday! As we begin to think about Advent and getting ready for Jesus' birthday, the nursery children spent the day talking about the why, where, how and who of birthdays. We made a list of things you need for a celebration and then got busy making decorations and writing cards to Oliver. At the end of the day we played party games and shared some special partyy food together.

Nursery children were excited to try out the new climbing frames and ladders. It took some concentration and coordination to test ourselves at this new skill.

A special visitor (22 images)
To help us learn about welcoming a new baby into God's family through the rite of Baptism, Louise's Mum and baby brother, Henri, came to visit us. We heard all about the special celebration her family had in France and looked at Henri's medal and candle. Some children used the role play props in the classroom to act out a Baptism as well. it was a lovely visit and thank you to Hortense and Henri!

PE in the top hall (16 images)
The nursery children made the long climb to the top hall for a PE lesson. We used the parachute to bounce and roll balls and played games crawling under the parachute. It was lots of energetic fun!
